Appeal for witnesses following firearm incident in Oxford

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses following a firearm incident which occurred in Oxford.
At around 3.40pm on Tuesday (21/7), a group of people, four men and a woman, entered Donnington playing fields, off Meadow Road.

After arriving in the playing fields, the group aimed an air rifle towards another group of men that were in the fields. The air rifle was then discharged before the group of people with the air rifle got into a car and drove off.

Officers are now working to locate and speak to the group of men that the air rifle was discharged towards.

Five people have been arrested in connection with this incident.
It is not believed any of the victims were injured however officers need to speak to them.

Investigating officer, DC Rosie Campbell, of Oxford Police Station, said: “I am appealing for witnesses to this incident, as well as the group that the air rifle was fired towards to come forward and speak to us.

“We would like to reassure the public that this incident is being investigated, and arrests have been made in connection with it. No one was hurt during the incident.
“However we still would appeal to anyone with information relating to this incident to come forward.

“Anyone with any information is asked to call Thames Valley Police on 101, quoting reference number 43200223844. You can also make a report online.

“Alternatively, you can make an anonymous report to independent charity Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111.”
