Alert message sent 10/01/2019 11:35:00

Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses following a burglary in Bracknell.
Between 10.00am and 9.00pm on Wednesday 9 January 2019 an offender attempted to force entry via rear windows of a house in School Hill, Crowthorne
The offender having managed to enter the rear garden tried to gain entry through a ground floor window by breaking the external cover off a trickle vent built into the window unit. With this not providing any access the offender then attempted to break through a plastic air vent fitted in a pane of glass adjacent to the back door. Fortunately the offender was unsuccessful, or possibly disturbed and departed without managing to gain entry or to steal anything, however leaving the home owner with repair costs. Investigating officer PC 3022 Aldridge based at Loddon Valley police station said “We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, has any security CCTV  or may have information to call our 24-hour enquiry centre on 101, quoting reference 43190008943.
If you don’t want to speak directly to police you can contact the independent charity “Crimestoppers” anonymously on 0800 555 111. No personal details are asked for, and your call is not traced or recorded, and you wouldn’t be expected to attend court.
At this time of year burglars like easy targets such as homes that are left in total darkness in the early evenings. You can reduce the risk of them targeting your home when you’re not in by using a simple timer switch to turn a lamp or two on as it gets dark.
