Vehicle Crime Prevention Advice

Alert message sent 05/01/2019 16:32:00

Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

There has been an increase in the theft of number plates in Bletchley.  Please read the following advice guidelines.
Removing everything from the car; don't even leave a jacket where it can be seen
• Not storing things in the boot; take them with you
• Taking removable stereos and sat nav equipment with you
• Where you park can make a big difference to the safety of your car and your belongings.
• Having a routine to ensure you always take the keys out of the ignition
• Keeping your keys away from doors and windows, and tucked away out of sight.
Storing car ownership information in your home, not your car
Using secure (theft resistant) number plates or buying a security fixing kit can make your plates less attractive to thieves.
Report thefts of numbers plates to the police as soon as possible.

Any information about these thefts can be reported to police on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers 0800 555111
