Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

Here is the latest Wallingford Sector neighbourhood update from PCSO Marie Davenport

Your Neighbourhood Policing Team consists of Inspector Mark Harling, Sergeant Fraser Weller, PC Simone O’Dell, PCSO Sue Harris, PCSO Marie Davenport, PCSO Sarah Jones, & PCSO Clare Beale.

Anti-social behaviour (ASB)
There have been reports of bins being knocked over in the Kennet Close area of Berinsfield as well as young people still climbing up on the library roof. This roof is over 40 years old and poses great risk of serious harm should someone fall through. Please ensure that you speak to your children and warn them of the dangers of such behaviour. If you have any information in regards to who is doing this we would love to have a chat with them so please get in touch.

Dorchester appears to be attracting some unwanted attention and there has been criminal damage to the pavilion recently as well as damage to the defibrillator. These are lifesaving pieces of equipment and it is unacceptable that these have been tampered with. We are appealing to anyone with any information to come forward.

Offenders brought to justice
Following a series of auto crime in the Cholsey and Wallingford area two males have been arrested. The investigation is ongoing.

Crime prevention advice
Following a rise of thefts from vehicles we are urging everyone to please ensure that your vehicle is locked at all times. Do not leave anything of value inside of the vehicle especially your keys. Never be afraid to report any suspicious activity, e.g. if you see someone trying door handles call 999 immediately.

What the neighbourhood team have been doing
On Friday 11th August PC Simone O’Dell, PC Stuart Betts, PCSO Marie Davenport and PCSO Sue Harris attended the RAF Benson family day. It was a day enjoyed by all with a great display from the Falcons, Blades and Red Arrows with great community spirit and it was a pleasure to engage with the friends and family of the RAF Personnel.

The team attended Bunk Fest on the 1-3 September, the team enjoyed engaging with and reassuring the public at this event.

Safe Place scheme
Along with the Community Safety team at South Oxfordshire District Council, The Fire Service and local charities we are looking at initiating a Safe Place Scheme within Wallingford Town Centre. This give local businesses the opportunity to care for its most vulnerable members of the community when they need help. This scheme will allow anyone who needs it, the ability to know which shops are safe and give them the confidence that someone inside will be able to help them, be that get them medical attention, police attendance or simply put them in touch with a carer or family member to get them home. We are looking to launch this by the beginning of December so keep a look out for future updates and please spread the word if you know someone who may benefit from this.

Future events/meetings
•    With the end of the summer holidays the schools will soon to be back and the neighbourhood team would love to come and visit. If you work for a school and wish for us to arrange a talk please email us or call 101.
